Farmshare Week 18: Recipe Ideas

Dear Wild Forks Farm members,

Welcome to Week 18 of your farmshares!

This week includes: Spaghetti Squash, Delicata, Zucchini, Baby Kohlrabi, Flashy Troutback Lettuce, Green Onions, Rainbow Swiss Chard, Cucumber, Pole Beans, the last of the tomatoes, and turnips (that somehow started out great when I pulled the first batch and then ended up being pretty small. I included them anyway because they have a bit of spice to them and can be possibly thrown in a roast for extra seasoning).

What is that alien looking vegetable!?

That is baby kohlrabi. I’ve been eating it just raw straight out of the field. It’s personal preference whether or not you want to peel it, in young form the skin is more tender. As they get bigger it can be more woody and fibrous. The entire plant is edible - leaves and all! And it’s packed full of antioxidants. More on Kohlrabi
